Ashley operates out of our Alberta office and her practice is focused on land use and development, real property, conveyancing, environmental matters, and drafting legal agreements. Ashley also provides general advice on an assortment of matters arising in the context of local governments, such as planning matters, drafting, conflicts of interest, policies and bylaws, privacy matters, and governance. In addition to her legal practice, Ashley is actively involved with the Alberta Association of Women Lawyers and is a member of the Calgary Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the National and Southern Alberta Municipal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association.
Ashley obtained her law degree from the University of Calgary and both her Bachelor of Commerce in Business Economics and Law, and her Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Psychology, from the University of Alberta. In law school, she acted as an ambassador for the Faculty of Law, played on the Faculty of Law’s rugby team, and volunteered as Family Duty Counsel with Pro Bono Students Canada. In her first and second year of law school, Ashley summered at an Alberta regional municipal law firm where she was exposed to a variety of areas of law. During her articles, her passion for municipal law flourished, as well as her passion for volunteering when she became involved in providing pro bono legal advice for the Pro Bono Law Alberta Civil Claims Duty Counsel program. Ashley has also appeared as an advocate for local governments in front of the Residential Tenancy Branch in British Columbia and has appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice on several occasions.
Outside of the law, Ashley is passionate about hiking, skiing the slopes, floating the river, and exploring the natural areas that surround Calgary, depending on the season.
