Robert is licensed in BC and Alberta. He provides legal opinions and drafts agreements on all local government matters with an active interest in land use, sport, recreation, events, tourism, and local economic development. Robert articled with the City of Calgary, where he served as a bylaw prosecutor, drafted real estate transactions, and advised on planning issues. Obtaining his JD from The University of British Columbia, his work has been published in law, planning, and sport management journals in Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom. Robert completed his PhD and LLM at the University of Michigan, with his research focusing on urban development finance and sports venues, and has subsequently held multiple academic posts in the UK.
