Christopher Davis

Christopher is a municipal and regulatory lawyer with more than 35 years of experience advising local governments, developers, and public bodies. He was called to the Alberta Bar in 1985 and brings a rare combination of extensive in-house and private practice experience. Christopher spent 14 years as in-house counsel with the City of Calgary and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, including serving as Acting Director of Legal Services and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

In private practice, Christopher has acted for municipalities, developers, community associations, and individuals, with a particular focus on planning and development law. He has appeared in over 150 reported Subdivision and Development Appeal Board matters and has significant experience before the Alberta courts on planning and land use appeals. His practice has also included governance, procurement, public works, engineering, land management, and municipal regulatory matters.

Christopher holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and an LLB from the University of British Columbia. He has been actively involved in professional and community leadership, including serving as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Municipal Law Section, participating in numerous municipal and community boards, and regularly presenting at municipal law conferences.

At Lidstone & Company, Christopher will focus on municipal, planning, and regulatory matters, drawing on his deep practical experience working with councils, senior leadership teams, and municipal staff.
