Catherine earned her law degree in 2023 from the University of British Columbia. She is looking forward to developing her skills in dispute resolution and drafting in both advocacy and transactional settings. She has a special interest in administrative law and division of powers.
Catherine began her studies in psychology. Her undergraduate thesis investigated sacred values and pro-environmental behaviour, for which she received the departmental prize. While at law school, Catherine developed both her advocacy and drafting skills by taking part in the Environmental Law Moot and the Business Law Clinic. She was also involved in the community as a volunteer for Access Pro Bono, where she drafted court documents for self-represented individuals and assessed the legal merits of files seeking pro bono legal representation. In her final year, Catherine was a research assistant for a professor and prepared memoranda to assist in the appeal of a judicial review decision related to a housing-related bylaw. This experience deepened her understanding of the challenges facing local governments.
When not in the office, Catherine likes to play badminton and ultimate frisbee, try new restaurants with friends, and travel with her partner. As a native of Wuhan, China, she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
